Dissection Rules

The coolest thing I have personally found on the Internet so far is Twitter. And so far, the best thing on Twitter has been following congressmen and news groups.

Being informed is the greatest gift the Internet can give us, so long as the source is admirable. The Internet will really take us places, but don't mind me - I'm gushing.

The Internet makes me (almost) wish I had less interest in the world, because it is so exhausting to feel so driven to find out everything I can about any subject I have the slightest curiosity about. I've seen a horse castration (granted, that was at a panel at Ikasucon last year, but it was still provided by the internet!).

There have been, however, the few things that compelled my interest to an even greater extent as I was researching it. Scientology, for one. Progressive Rock and Concept Albums (researching Coheed & Cambria). Black holes and space. I want to spend more time researching things I don't know a thing about - like chemistry.

Which brings me to a point: Why do I call myself a doctor?
Because I'm practicing nerdication. Real doctors are certified to "practice medication". I'm placing the essence of "nerd" and "geek" into these posts in varying amounts, and as you are reading you are taking it in and being affected.

Plus, it sounds cool. And I have a thing for mad scientists... or really professions where the guy is wearing glasses (scientists, researchers, teachers, writers, etc...).

Then why "geek-chic"?
Because I'm a geek, and I try to dress and present myself as such. I'm not ashamed to tell people that I cosplay, am involved with my church, volunteer at an art center, am trying to teach myself Linux, carry a DSLR camera with me at all times, or likewise.

I am an open book, to say the least. So be careful, where there is an open book there is often someone reading... and if there is someone reading there is often someone learning.

Perhaps I will expand on a few of my well-researched interests in the next post and you can learn something.
